Synopsis

This book tells the story of what life was like for cricketers in Victorian Auckland. It is the first in a series of histories about Auckland cricket and is to be released at an official launch in either late November or the first week in December. The history focuses on the people involved through photos, sketches, and pen portraits. There are some amazing stories in the book.

The history contains full score cards of every representative match played by Auckland between 1860 and 1901 as well as score cards and reports of local club matches dating from as early as 1842. It also traces the origins of the modern day clubs and the Auckland Cricket Association. The research is all sourced from the original documents and newspapers and many quotations originate from those sources.

This history is published as a limited edition which will all be numbered and signed. It will be published as a hardback and contains about 240 pages. It measures 27.94 cm high by 21cm which is slightly smaller than A4. It will be unlikely to be available in bookshops and will only be printed to order.
